Feature & Follow (3)

Feature and Follow is a weekly hop hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read.

Q: What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can’t deal with bad editing?

The book pretty much is a dud to me if there is horrible editing. I really hate it when I see punctuation errors in a final copy. Another thing that kills a book for me would be too much dialogue and not enough story.

  1. There's not much that will make me give up on a book - but bad editing is definitely a turn-off. I haven't encountered that much though.

    1. I see it a lot, but I read a lot of smaller publisher's books too.

  2. Bad editing is definitely a deal breaker. I've run across books that everyone is raving about and yet I can't get past the first chapter because the editing is so bad. Also, I'm sick of virgins. If I have to read about another virgin (that's not young adult) I'm gonna scream. Ditto in the happy endings that wrap up all neat. A little reality goes a long way with me.

    1. I agree with you about the virgin thing, it's everywhere in paranormal romance lately. Realistically speaking, how many women in their 20's and 30's are virgins? Yeah.....haha Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Bad editing is annoying. I think I would also dislike a book with too much dialogue and not enough story, too.

  4. Poor editing is definitely annoying. The storyline has to really save the book for me at that point.

  7. Bad editing is definitely a turn-off. Especially if it's a traditionally published book.
