Back to the Classics 2013 Reading Challenge

I haven't read a classic since high school, and that was about five years ago. I'm really excited for this challenge and am so glad that Sarah decided to host it again this year! So, here are the categories and the books I plan on reading for each category:

The Required Categories:
  1. A 19th Century Classic: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
  2. A 20th Century Classic: Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
  3. A Pre-18th or 18th Century Classic: Beowulf
  4. A Classic that relates to the African-American Experience: Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
  5. A Classic Adventure: The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein
  6. A Classic that prominently features an Animal: Animal Farm by George Orwell
Optional Categories:

    A.  Re-read a Classic: Dracula by Bram Stoker
   B.  A Russian Classic: Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
   C.  A Classic Non-Fiction title:  Not sure on this one yet...maybe something by Darwin.

   E.  Classic Short Stories: The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allen Poe

  1. Thanks for joining in the fun! You've got some GREAT choices! I LOVED Dorian Gray and Anna Karenina... and A Wrinkle in Time was my favorite as a little girl. Enjoy!!

    1. I read a Wrinkle in Time when I was in 5th grade...I really want to read it as an adult so I can understand it better. Haha. It should be fun! I don't read outside of paranormal/fantasy genres very often.
